I have been feeling the need to knit again for along time now. The problem is these days, with working full time and running the store after work, my attention span is minimal. If I were to start a big project, like a sweater, I would never get anywhere because the few times I find to knit I would spend more time trying to figure out where I left off than get anything done.
So for the past couple of weeks, I have been tossing ideas back and forth in my mind. I finally decided on a summer blanket. I have a down comforter on my bed and it's great during the winter but during the summer it can be a little warm. Most nights during the summer I need something more than a sheet and something less than the down comforter. So I have decided to knit a blanket with cotton yarn. Because of the aforementioned attention span issues I decided I would create my own pattern that will allow me to knit individual squares and then knit them all together at the end. Not sure how it's all going to come together but the first plan was to determine how many squares. Then I will knit the squares and decide exactly how I'm going to get them all together at the end. It should be interesting!
So far this is what I have planned. Individual pink and yellow squares. Each square will be knit with different animals silhouetted in pearl stitches. This is the pattern for the entire blanket and the first square, when I get around to actually starting to knit, will be an elephant.

Stay tuned, hopefully, now that I have a plan, I will find the time to start the elephant soon!
